The Embassy provides services in matters such as passports, notary services and certain specific legal transactions for Finnish citizens and for foreign nationals with a permanent residence in Finland. For non-Finnish citizens the Embassy provides services considering entry permit matters, such as Schengen visa and residence permit applications.The Embassy also assists other Finnish authorities with citizenship, population register, military service and family law matters as well as with arrangements for absentee voting.
The Embassy helps Finnish citizens and foreign nationals with a permanent residence in Finland in distress in Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In an emergency situation outside the Embassy's office hours Finnish citizens and foreign nationals with a permanent residence in Finland are requested to contact the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland's 24/7 emergency telephone number: +358 9 1605 5555 (24/7).

The Embassy's telephone service hours are from Tuesday to Thursday between 13.00 - 15.00 o´clock.
Finland represents Hungary and Estonia in all Schengen visa matters in Tanzania.The Embassy receives visa applications to Finland, Hungary and Estonia from Tanzanian citizens or foreigners living in Tanzania with a residence permit by appointment only.
Belgium is representing Finland in all Schengen visa matters in Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Citizens and residents of Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo can apply for a visa to Finland from the Belgian Embassy in their respective country.
Residence permit applications from citizens of Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo are received by appointment only.
